Active since 2003, Connexion Bizarre is an electronic music webzine staffed by an international team of volunteers and coordinated from Porto (Portugal). It is regularly updated with music reviews, interviews and a podcast, has its radio show on the Lisbon-based Radio Zero and occasionally contributes to event organization/promotion. We strive to showcase what is currently being made in terms of good and original electronic music in a wide variety of genres, regardless tendencies and fashions.

Activities began in mid-2003 in Porto, as a sporadic club night concept dedicated to a wide range of electronic music, from Synthpop to Noise, touching everything in between that we perceived as being original and of good quality, without catering to any particular scene or audience. An ambitious idea that ultimately proved impractical due to a variety of reasons. The webzine started as something of an afterthought, but has since become our main focus of activity. In addition to the activities normally associated with a music webzine (music reviews, interviews, podcasts, etc.), we also have a weekly radio show on the Lisbon based Radio Zero and have some activity as a netlabel. Currently we are not involved in the organization of regular events.

We're always looking for people to add to our staff. If you are an electronic music enthusiast and would be interested in doing music reviews, interviewing artists and so on, contact us by e-mail.

ConnexionBizarre is hosted and powered by the nice people at Cenobytes.net.

Despite enjoying free hosting and being staffed by volunteers, Connexion Bizarre has its costs to run (postal expenses, for example). If you appreciate our efforts, please consider a donation or a quick visit to our store.

Promotional material for review: Bands and labels wishing to submit material for review should e-mail us to obtain our postal address. We accept CDs, CDRs and Vinyl for review but request the addition of a CDR when sending vinyl. Releases in audio data formats (MP3, OGG, etc) are accepted, but may take more time to be processed due to time and practical constraints. We will notify labels and artists when the material is received and when reviews are online. Also, all reviews have a direct link for ease of reference.
Though we do try to review/feature all the material we are sent, we reserve the right not to review/feature material which is judged to be too substandard (i.e., we'd rather spend time promoting good music than pointing out bad quality music) or which doesn't fit our musical/editorial focus. In the latter case, we will do our best to forward the received material to other publications, DJs, etc., with whom we are in contact.
Please note that we cover electronic and electronic-based music only (i.e., no metal, rock, etc.) though some electronic crossover material may be accepted; also we do not normally cover rap, house and other related genres.

Submissions for netlabel release: Artists wishing to submit material for release through our netlabel section should contact us directly. All our releases are licensed through Creative Commons and we sugest that artists set up accounts at a print-on-demand service like CreateSpace.com to offer their releases for sale, free of charge and keeping any profit for themselves, for the benefit of music enthusiasts that prefer a ready-made hardcopy.
