If you’re looking for a release that provides pounding rhythms that will lead to armageddon on the dance floor, look no further than the second full length from Texas artist Sinsect, titled “Bug Life”. Chrysalide – Don’t Be Scared, It’s About Life
The self-proclaimed electro-punk-noize-terrorists Chrysalide have returned with their second full length album, “Don’t Be Scared, It’s About Life” – and what a disc it is! Though many people will make obvious Skinny Puppy comparisons, this album is no mere clone. It could easily be the soundtrack to someone’s nightmares or in the day of an insane asylum.
Digicore – Without Freedom
If you like a lot of thrashy rock with just a small helping of electronics, this might be right up your alley; otherwise there is nothing that sets this apart from other rock bands where electronics are used. This is not an electronic-styled release by any stretch of the imagination, but songs later in the album incorporate a much stronger electronic element that make listening much more enjoyable.
Empusae & Shinkiro – Organic.Aural.Ornaments
Though short, this is a great collaboration as a whole, with top-notch production and sound design – as it stands, it feels like an extended EP. Definitely a must for fans of either act; it’s not a typical Ant-Zen release, but if you like the more downtempo stuff they release (Zero Degree, T’zolkin) then definitely give this a listen.
the_empath – Meanwhile
Five years is a long time to get an album together. Sometimes the time taken is a good thing; otherwise, it’s occasionally disappointing. This is not the case here. This is time travel in music form – a varied, interesting and worthwhile journey for any electronic music aficionado.
Zero Degree – Probe
There comes a point when you just know what to expect from something when the press release quotes that movie, and not just the movie but that one line… “I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe…”, etc. It’s the ‘go to’ quotation for something that needs that moody, futurist sheen to it. In this case, the quote is very appropriately used.
Birthday parties galore for Ad Noiseam’s 10th anniversary!
Remember 2001? When the world was still recovering from a post-turn of the millenium hangover, and a couple of towers were still standing in New York? Something else happened that year: a small, limited compilation called “Krach Test” saw the light of the day as the first Ad Noiseam release ever.
Millipede – Powerless
The very fibers of “Powerless” are just soaked in misery of the most pedestrian kind. This isn’t misery you can tap into and feel – whilst this release does try hard, the emotional content seems somewhat lacking, or hard to connect with.
Laurent Pernice vs. Laurent Perrier – Play Piano and Sounds
Although individual tracks on “Play Piano and Sounds”, with its unambiguous title of resounding literalness, are attributable to either one or the other Laurent, the interspersed presentation and shared vision make this a collection of mutual inspiration rather than the already familiar encounter between classical/jazz musician and electronic producer.
Chrysalide & others: an interview with Arco and Syco Trauma
2010 was a busy and interesting year for French cyberpunk band Chrysalide and, with a new album “Don’t Be Scared, It’s About Life” coming out soon (and a tour to go with that) Syco, Arco and Amnesy won’t be slowing down anytime soon. We got the chance to talk to Syco and Arco about their music projects, Audiotrauma, life on tour, politics and just how people react to their Pink Floyd cover…
